“The metaphor is probably the most fertile power possessed by man.” ~ Gasset

The use of metaphor and symbols is integral to art therapy. Each line, shape, color and form takes on new meaning that aids in the narrative a person creates in the art process, and has the potential of deepening the artist’s relationship to the art, the collective unconscious, and the artist’s own personal journey. This workshop training will explore the use of metaphor and how it can be used as a powerful art based intervention toward this end. This workshop is designed for therapists, artists and educators. 7 CEUs.

Workshop Objectives:

  1. Participants will learn the definition of metaphor and how it is utilized in art based interventions.
  2. Participants will learn several art-based techniques that can aid in eliciting one’s personal metaphorical language.
  3. Participants will learn how to use sand play and miniatures to create personal stories.
  4. Participants will leave with a miniature sandtray starter kit to use in their own practice.

All art materials and sand tray miniatures included in price.  25% discount for BATC members.
